Chicago Candle-Making Classes at

Embers + Apothecary

Tucked into Chicago’s Printers Row, Embers + Apothecary is a candle-making studio where design, creativity, and connection come together.

We’re known for our signature candle-making classes where guests create their own scents—but what we really offer is a vibe. Think custom scents, premium materials, and the kind of space you’d get if a scent studio and a stylish pop-up event space had a candle-obsessed baby.

Whether you're planning a birthday, team outing, client event, or just looking for a creative way to spend your afternoon, we’ve got you. Come solo, bring your crew, or book the whole place.  We make it easy to connect, celebrate, and create something worth remembering.

Mid Year Spark

A candle-making class for your summer hangout era

Summer in Chicago has a way of pulling people back together: patios, lake days, long walks, group chats that finally become plans. Midyear Spark is a guided candle-making class for adding a little intention to the season of seeing your people. Guests will think about the relationships they want to make more room for, what they want to give and receive in those connections, and the kind of spark they want to bring into the second half of the year. You’ll create a custom candle inspired by that reflection, with prompts that make the experience thoughtful, social, and a little off the beaten path. Great for solo guests, friends, partners, or anyone looking for a creative summer reset that feels meaningful without getting too serious.

Maker's Choice

Candles or room sprays, you decided what to make

Walk in and decide. This is our faster format, choose your own adventure session. Guests explore our full scent library, blend something that feels right, and choose what they make on the spot: either a 4 oz room & linen spray or a candle in an 8 oz tin vessel. Great for those with a little less time or with friends who don't necessarily want to make the same things, it's still fully guided start to finish by our team. Candle makers can play cards while their creation sets. Room spray guests leave in about an hour with nothing to wait on. Plan for 60 to 90 minutes.
