​Our story is rooted in a love for unconventional experiences and a belief that Chicago needs more third spaces—welcoming inclusive spots away from work and home where people can gather, date, laugh, host a party, and build community.
Located in the historic Printers Row neighborhood, we’re proud to be a Woman and Black-owned business. We host daily classes and private events centered around unique candle-making experiences in two parts. The first part includes scent exploration and diving into the art of candle making, while the second part invites you to engage in a fun activity with those around you—be it trivia, games, a tasting or perhaps something else.
Whether you're a local, visiting Chicago, a candle enthusiast, or just seeking something a little different, our experiences are crafted with you in mind. Hi, I’m Leah.
​​I’m the founder of Embers + Apothecary Candle Bar, and I’m so glad you’re here! After 19 years as a management consultant and marketing strategist, my journey took a big turn during the 2023 tech layoffs. Instead of returning to the corporate grind, I decided to follow my heart and create something that felt meaningful: a space where people could connect, unwind, and tap into their creativity.

Embers + Apothecary was born from my love of bringing people together. Whether you’re exploring scents to create your own candle, laughing over trivia with friends, or finding comfort in our memory candle experience, my hope is that you leave with more than a candle—you leave with memories and connections.

Since opening in Spring 2024, Embers + Apothecary has grown into more than I ever imagined. It’s a space where creativity sparks joy, where diverse voices come together, and where our little corner of Printers Row feels even more like home.
